It may have been quiet on our channels, but behind the scenes, progress has been anything but.
A significant milestone has now been reached, with the beams that will one day support the ceiling of L’Opinion firmly in place. What once existed only in plans and renderings is steadily becoming a tangible reality, as construction continues at remarkable pace.
With each new column, beam and defining architectural line, the future home of L’Opinion becomes increasingly recognisable. The scale, proportions and character of the space are beginning to reveal themselves, offering the first real glimpse of the restaurant to come.
For the first time, the ambition behind the project can truly be experienced beyond drawings and visualisations. What was once a vision is now taking shape in concrete, steel and craftsmanship, bringing us one step closer to welcoming guests through our doors.
The story of L’Opinion is no longer confined to plans. It is being built, quite literally, beam by beam.

Opening winter 2027 — Antwerp
L’Opinion is a restaurant inspired by the legacy of the newspaper L’Opinion, soon to be reimagined at this historic site in Antwerp. Where sharp words and bold opinions were once printed, a new culinary destination is taking shape. One that carries forward the same spirit of creativity, dialogue, and curiosity.
L’Opinion – An Historic Corner, A New Chapter
L’Opinion takes its name from a historic newspaper that once gave voice to bold ideas in Antwerp. The building on Lange Koepoortstraat first housed L’Opinion, and later Le Matin, making it a hub of creativity, dialogue, and civic engagement. On 3 June 1974, the last edition was printed here, and the building remained empty until 1991, when Hotel Rubens was constructed.
Today, the city’s smallest façade is being preserved and will serve as the entrance to L’Opinion’s stunning summer terrace, adjacent to a beautifully landscaped city garden.
Behind these historic walls, major renovations are underway to create The Rubens Antwerp, which will host L’Opinion as its restaurant.
The restaurant draws inspiration from the building’s rich past while embracing a modern vision. Where sharp words and bold opinions were once printed, a new culinary destination is emerging, one that celebrates creativity, dialogue, and discovery through refined dishes, unique drinks, and an immersive dining experience.
Rooted in Antwerp’s history yet unmistakably contemporary, L’Opinion promises a place to taste, linger, and connect, right in the heart of the city, with a sense of timeless elegance.
