L’Opinion is a restaurant inspired by the legacy of the newspaper L’Opinion, soon to be reimagined at this historic site in Antwerp. Where sharp words and bold opinions were once printed, a new culinary destination is taking shape. One that carries forward the same spirit of creativity, dialogue, and curiosity.
L’Opinion – A Historic Corner, A New Chapter
L’Opinion takes its name from a historic newspaper that once gave voice to bold ideas in Antwerp. The building on Lange Koepoortstraat first housed L’Opinion, and later Le Matin, making it a hub of creativity, dialogue, and civic engagement. On 3 June 1974, the last edition was printed here, and the building remained empty until 1991, when Hotel Rubens was constructed.

Today, the city’s smallest façade is being preserved and will serve as the entrance to L’Opinion’s stunning summer terrace, adjacent to a beautifully landscaped city garden.
Behind these historic walls, major renovations are underway to create The Rubens Antwerp, which will host L’Opinion as its restaurant.

The restaurant draws inspiration from the building’s rich past while embracing a modern vision. Where sharp words and bold opinions were once printed, a new culinary destination is emerging, one that celebrates creativity, dialogue, and discovery through refined dishes, unique drinks, and an immersive dining experience.
